Feather and Hay customs and semi-customs
A Feather & Hay custom/semi custom is a piece of artistic creation; the end result will be a collaboration of ideas between me (Feather & Hay) and the customer to create something special for them. I want to work from the customer’s palette and inspiration to bring forth a piece they have imagined. It is important to remember I am an artist, I will work from your ideas but it will be my interpretation of this and it would be a good idea to familiarise yourself with my work to see if you think my work is what you are looking for.
Please read these T&C’s carefully before purchasing a custom, by purchasing with Feather & Hay you’re agreeing to these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions apply to the use of this website and by accessing this website and/or placing an order you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out here. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms and conditions you may not use or access this website. These terms and conditions abide by The Consumer Contract Regulations. You’re welcome to print or store these terms for your own records.
Disclaimer and Liability (Baby wraps)
By proceeding with your purchase of a custom/semi-custom baby wrap you verify that you have read the BICA Visable & Kissable babywearing safety leaflet, you agree to use the wrap in a safe manner, and that the care of your baby is solely your responsibility. You acknowledge that any failure to follow the safety information may cause risks to safety for which Feather & Hay will not be liable. Feather & Hay does not accept any liability for any injury, death or any other loss arising from or in connection with the incorrect, unsafe or other use of the product or any use for which the product was not intended. Caregivers are ultimately responsible for the safety of their child while they are using Feather & Hay products. The safety information provided shall be treated only as a guide, and does not guarantee the safety of yourself or your child.
Prices are subject to change but are correct at time of posting. Any glitches, errors or typos are not required to be honoured. If an error or inaccuracy is discovered with regards to the advertised price of the goods that you have ordered, we will contact you as soon as possible by e-mail. This will be to inform you of the correct price of the goods, and to ask you if you wish to continue with the order at the amended price, or to cancel the order altogether. Any special offers will have a clear displayed end date.
If multiple wraps/custom/semi-custom slots are being offered in one drawing, you may enter once – so, choose your favourite.
Submissions are collected via a Google form, and data collected is used only to determine the winner of the drawing. Your email address and other data submitted is not used for any other purpose.
Winners are chosen by a random string of numbers from Random.org.
Shipping information is required at the drawing entry stage, and winners of the draw will be contacted by the email address they provided. When they are contacted, they will be issued a Paypal Invoice due upon receipt.
Please NOTE: Do not enter a draw if you aren’t sure you can pay the full price when the drawing closes. Drawing winners who “decline,” or are unable to pay will be made ineligible for future drawings. This is to keep the process fair for people who are actually hoping to buy a wrap. Likewise, people who have won wraps through drawings in the last 6 months will be ineligible.
Custom Order Policy
Payment will be made in two parts- the first payment will be the custom or semi-custom fee. At this point we can discuss your requirements and decide on the final plan.
Second payment will be due once design choices have been made and yarn is ready to be ordered; this will include the balance and any extra changes in original invoice. Once yarns have arrived and design is on loom, your wrap will be ready to ship within 1 month (hopefully sooner). If there will be a change to this schedule you will be informed by email asap and given the chance to cancel your order.
Feather & Hay will own any design and remaining materials from the project unless otherwise arranged. From any design/order there will be the possibility of sister slots or other wraps: Feather & Hay will set up the loom for your wrap and extra warp to offer semi-custom wraps or to create other wraps that may be sold through our store.
Of course, it is normal that a wrap may change hands in its’ lifetime and the final product is yours to pass on; I just ask that you respect Feather & Hay’s work and not resell products purely for profit. I reserve the right to refuse service to people known to be reselling my work at a profit.
Custom Orders (without Design Fee Autumn 2017)
Please note that the custom slots without the design fee will work differently to the original custom slots (as above). The process will be quicker – there will be two weeks allocated to designing and acquiring yarns. This should be considered when deciding to use this type of slot – for example more unusual yarns might not be able to be used in the design of a wrap if they will take longer than two weeks to obtain or getting yarns dyed by a third party and so on. The cost of the wrap is still due and 50% of this will need to be paid before the yarns will be warped etc. If the payment is not made by week 3 (out of 4) of the slot (unless otherwise agreed by F&H) your slot may be forfeited. Wrap payments need to be completed before the wrap will be posted. Design rights follow the same as usual custom slots. Cancellation Policy for this type of custom is different – please see Custom Order (without Design Fee) Cancellation Policy.
Custom Order Cancellation Policy
If you change your mind after first payment has been made, 100% of your payment will be returned (up to 7 days after payment has been made). Cancelling your order from day 7 to day 14 – you are eligible for 90% refund (the 10% is for administration time spent processing your order).
Custom Order (without Design Fee) Cancellation Policy
If you change your mind after first payment has been made, 100% of your payment will be returned minus the cost of any yarns/materials bought specifically for your work (up to 7 days after payment has been made). Cancelling your order from day 7 to day 14 – you will get 50% refund (50% will be for the work already started on your custom piece).
We ship within 1-3 business days after the wrap is finished. Wraps are posted via Royal Mail with full insurance.
Any customs or duties charged by your home country will be handled and paid for by the buyer.
We will not send any package like a gift, please don’t ask. If your purchase is lost or damaged in shipping, I as the shipper will file a claim with Royal Mail. Please notify me immediately in order for me to do this.
PayPal is our only payment method – you can pay with your PayPal account, or by card through that system. To pay by card, you don’t need to have an account with PayPal to purchase.
Payment plans: I can offer up to 4 separate instalments for the second part to the payment (1st payment is the design fee – this must be paid in full). This means that the weaving of your baby wrap might be pushed further along the timeline rather than F&H weaving it immediately – this will be discussed and I will give you a month outline. This gives you time to pay in order for me to start weaving.
Return and Exchange Policy
All products are final sale, no refunds are acceptable.
In the case of quality damage, you may return it as via a signed for shipping with a tracking number. You must contact me prior to sending it back. Once I have received the wrap, I will issue a refund. Design (Custom fee), Shipping, and Paypal costs will not be refunded and the wrap must be in the original condition. Any request for refunds must be received within 2 days of receipt of your order. The goods must be “as-new”, to be refunded or exchanged. Refunds will only be given once the product is back in my possession.
I strive to create wraps in perfect condition. Please keep in mind these are handmade products, and variations in appearance are to be expected. If there are legitimate reasons to be unhappy with the product (broken threads, torn fabric, etc) then you can arrange to return the wrap and I will repair or replace it. All shipping must be handled by the customer, so it is important to discuss this with me before deciding to return a wrap- it may just be an end thread that needs snipping
Please note that it is normal for woven wraps to occasionally have some imperfections in the weaving. These weaving flaws can come in the form of knotted, skipped and broken thread or slubs common to some fibres. These small flaws do not affect the structural integrity of your wraps. Feather & Hay does a strict quality control when finishing each wrap to be sure that zero or minimum flaws will be in the final piece.
If a wrap you purchased directly from Feather & Hay has an inconsistency, please contact us so we can assess your wrap within 2-5 days of receipt of your order (wrap should be as new, washing is not accepted). Photos may be requested.
If, before use, there are broken threads and or other critical errors in the piece that we miss here, our policy is to take back the piece at our expense and repair it.
In the case of cosmetic imperfections such as frayed knots or ends, and/or damage caused through use, we are happy to repair the piece (still for free, within reason), but the customer must assume both shipping and return shipping.
Any intentionally altered wrap (re-size, sling conversion, cut, etc) is no longer a Feather & Hay product, and cannot be listed as such in the future. No support is available for altered products.
