The Story behind the Candy Heart Square Scarf

Cotton Candy Skies was a commissioned warp. It features a hand dyed navy blue, pink and grey Supima Cotton. During of the design process the colour sketches soon brought thoughts of early morning and late evening skies, as a result the warp’s name became ‘Cotton Candy Skies’. The Supima Cotton warp will make a soft textile with whichever weft it is paired with.

This Candy Heart Square Scarf is soft but has an added weight due to the thick Merino wool weft. The colour of the weft is a cornflower blue that softens and gels with the warp colours. Featuring the popular Heart weave pattern with a short fringe on two ends, the Candy Heart square scarf is a square shape to be folded into a triangle. The scarf can be folded two ways to show off different sides and colours.

To wear the Candy Heart square scarf , fold the square in half to form a triangle then tie or pin at the back: your scarf will come with a kilt pin but a brooch or scarf ring will work well too.

How do I wash my hand woven item?

To preserve the beauty and magic of your Feather & Hay textile it is best to hand wash and line dry when required.

You do not need to pre-wash your item, each piece has been finished read for immediate use.

For plant based (cellulose) fibres use a non-bio detergent in hand warm water. Ecover is a good example of a gentle detergent.

For animal based (protein) fibres use a detergent suitable for delicates (often described as ‘for wool or silk’). Keep the temperature just warm to the hand and try not to agitate the fabric when washing. Remember felting can occur with heat, water & friction!
