The Story behind Na Mara
The ‘Na Marra’ Baby Wrap is one of two sister pieces from a custom made baby wrap warp: a Cotton warp with a focus on beautiful and subtle blues. Framed by purple and soft teal like blues the shades are classic and beautiful. This piece of fabric will make wrapping your little one a joy: a feast for the eyes and easy to wrap with. Na Mara doesn’t shout but the echoes are unmistakable.
‘Na Marra’ Baby Wrap is woven in a crackle weave with the treadling circling back to give diamond shapes in the pattern. The weft fibres are Bamboo and Merino: a soft and cushy combination’. Hand dyed by Feather & Hay the pink-purple weft gives the wrap it’s ‘pop-ability’ – the colours shine with vibrancy!
Why is it called ‘Na Mara’? The warp name came from the sea shell collection inspiration photo. The imagery around this warp is about wide open beaches with sporadic shells dotting the expanse. Na Mara is simply the Scottish Gaelic words for ‘by the sea’ – ‘Na Mara’ Baby Wrap represents the feeling of being by the sea.
This is a mid range density wrap (comparable to other F&H baby wraps). It has a lovely soft bounce and drape but is light in hand and will be soft from the very beginning. ‘Na Marra’ has hemmed ends.

How do I wash my hand woven item?
To preserve the beauty and magic of your Feather & Hay textile it is best to hand wash and line dry when required.
You do not need to pre-wash your item, each piece has been finished read for immediate use.
For plant based (cellulose) fibres use a non-bio detergent in hand warm water. Ecover is a good example of a gentle detergent.
For animal based (protein) fibres use a detergent suitable for delicates (often described as ‘for wool or silk’). Keep the temperature just warm to the hand and try not to agitate the fabric when washing. Remember felting can occur with heat, water & friction!
